Travel experts have said key European holiday destinations like Spain, France, Portugal and Greece will not be added to the red list at the upcoming travel review.
Is Spain on the Red List for travel?
Spain is not set to move to the red list in the latest Government changes to the travel traffic light system, despite recent fears. The country will remain on the amber list, but the Government is urging travellers to Spain to take a PCR test before they fly home.
- Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are being moved from the red list to the amber list as part of the changes, which come into effect from 4am on August 8;

Quarantine hotel costs are soaring to “better reflect the increased costs involved”, according to the Government. From August 12 the rate for solo travellers in quarantine hotels will rise to £2,285, while adults sharing will be charged £1,430.
Will Spain be put on the’Red List’?
The disclosure came amid claims that ministers will not move Spain to the ‘red list’ because of falling case numbers in the country and fears the Government’s hotel quarantine system would be unable to cope. Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is expected to deliver his three-weekly update to the rules tomorrow.
